ABOUT SPIRITUAL DIRECTION
Spiritual direction, as I understand it, is “help given by one Christian to another which enables that person to pay attention to God’s personal communication to him or her, to respond to this personally communicating God, to grow in intimacy with this God, and to live out the consequence of this relationship” (Barry & Connolly, The Practice of Spiritual Direction, p. 8).
I received my training in spiritual direction at Saint Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology, within the Benedictine tradition—the Church’s oldest contemplative community. There, I deepened my practice of prayer and learned the art of discerning spirits. This formation equips me to walk with others as they listen for God’s voice and seek to respond with faithfulness.
Discernment is the heartbeat of my ministry. It shapes my own reading, reflection, and prayer, and it guides how I accompany those I serve. I find joy in helping people grow in awareness—of the movements of the heart, of God’s presence in everyday life, and of the gentle ways the Spirit draws us closer.
I offer in-person spiritual direction in East Central Illinois and also meet with directees virtually via Zoom, serving people wherever they may be.
